Who we are

The Lake City Neighborhood Alliance was formed to:

 

  • Encourage the formation of micro-communities within the Lake City planning area,
  • Assist with building communication channels between them.
  • Provide a regular forum for representatives of these organizations to meet , discuss community issues, and discuss solutions.
  • Operate and maintain a system to effectively communicate with outside agencies in regards to policies and planning affecting our neighborhoods.
  • Maintaining and presenting pertinent neighborhood information regarding issues, policies, and planning in a publicly accessible way.
  • Collectively ACT in a coordinated way to create an atmosphere of safety and realize the goals of our Comprehensive Plan.

 

Some projects we have been involved with, have helped support, and/ or are working on:

  • The Voluntary Alcohol Ban in Lake City
  • Establishing communications with elected representatives through Lake City walking tours with 8 of 9 Councilmembers, Senator David Frockt, representatives from the Mayor’s office, representatives from Seattle Police,  and representatives from many other city and county departments.
  • Data collection and presentation on housing, neighborhood litter, parks and recreation equity, and sidewalks.
  • The Mayor’s Interdepartmental Task Force for Lake City.
  • Advocacy for a mixed income model of development.
  • Advocacy for Community Center funding that resulted in 500,000 budgeted for a programming assessment and physical improvements.
  • Advocacy for a Lake City Skate Park.
  • Advocacy for an update to our Comprehensive Plan.
  • Advocacy for a Business Improvement District / Local Improvement District to identify specific Right of Way improvements as well as a community supported self tax funding mechanism to provide the capital.
